On 19 June 2026, TURING was presented during a hybrid roundtable dedicated to interactions between European and Indian research and innovation actors in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The meeting focused on opportunities to further strengthen EU–India cooperation on trustworthy AI, with particular reference to Horizon Europe research initiatives. The programme included opening remarks by representatives of the Delegation of the European Union and HaDEA, as well as an overview of the relevant European AI funding framework.
During the session, TURING presented its vision and research approach for developing trustworthy, robust and explainable AI models for scientific and engineering applications. Particular attention was given to the project’s applications in nuclear energy, particle physics and meteorology.
The TURING presentation brought together representatives from several project partners. Konstantinos Tserpes, TURING Coordinator, provided an overview of the project’s AI models and presented the application related to Météo-France. Sofia Vallecorsa from CERN and Edo Frederix from NRG PALLAS presented the corresponding applications in particle physics and nuclear energy, while Pushpendra Singh from IIIT Delhi presented the involvement of the project’s Indian partner.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of international cooperation for the development of trustworthy and responsible AI systems, as well as the challenges that continue to affect the participation of Indian organisations in European research initiatives. Particular attention was given to the funding of Indian participation and its broader implications for future EU–India research cooperation.
This participation provided another valuable opportunity for TURING to present its research activities in an international setting and to contribute to the broader dialogue on trustworthy AI and international research collaboration.
